[edit]No qualitative difference between an affine representation and a linear rep one dimension larger? An affine rep has no zero while a linear rep has! For affine reps, we can only take linear combinations of the form aX+(1-a)Y while for linear reps, we can take any arbitrary linear combination!
I might as well say there's no qualitative difference between an affine rep and a projective rep, just some minor detail about points at infinity of no qualitative consequence... Phys 20:37, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
That's the difference between an affine space and a vector space; or the difference between an affine space and a projective space. Not the same thing as the difference between the types of representation.
