THE JACKSONS
[edit]Randy officially joined the group when they changed their name to The Jacksons after moving to Epic records. He established himself as a prolific song writer and accomplished musician at a young age having written The Jacksons most successful single on Epic, “Shake Your Body Down To The Ground” at the age of 17. He went on to write and collaborate with his older brother Michael on successive Jackson albums, Triumph and Victory and sang co-lead with Michael on the group’s hit “Can You Feel It.” Randy also assisted Michael instrumentally on the Off the Wall album. He is widely thought of as the most talented instrumentalist of the Jackson brother, playing congas, drums and other percussion instruments, keyboards and piano, bass, guitar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.15.47.98 (talk) 15:30, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Donte Jackson
[edit]Is it certain that Donte is Randys child? Why exactly was he adopted by Jermaine. All info on this boy is very muddled and mixed. This article states that he is Randy Jr's twin. However in Katherine Jacksons artice it states that Donte is a year younger than Randy jr and is Randys adopted son?
Katherines page 'Randy Jackson and Alejandra Oaziaza had three children: Genevieve Jackson (b. December 3, 1989) Donte Jackson (b. June 13, 1992) - an adopted child Steven Randall Jackson, Jr. (b. October 2, 1991)'—Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.156.165 (talk) 11:12, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
In Jermaines page Donte is not mentioned at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.156.165 (talk) 11:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Requested move (2010)
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Move Randy Jackson (musician) to Randy Jackson (The Jacksons) and Randy Jackson (rock musician) to Randy Jackson (Zebra). Jafeluv (talk) 08:24, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Randy Jackson (musician) → Randy Jackson (musician, born 1961) — Last year there was a move discussion at Talk:Randy Jackson (disambiguation) over who is the primary topic of the name Randy Jackson. The move I'm suggesting now was hinted at then but sort of lost in the larger discussion. The present title of the article on Randy Jackson of The Jacksons implies by exclusion that Randy Jackson (of American Idol fame) and Randy Jackson (rock musician) (of Zebra) are not musicians, when in fact they are. I couldn't find a year of birth for the Zebra musician, otherwise I would have suggested his article also be moved to Randy Jackson (musician, born 19XX).
I would also be amenable to:
- Randy Jackson (musician) → Randy Jackson (The Jacksons musician) and Randy Jackson (rock musician) → Randy Jackson (Zebra musician) —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:29, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Thoughts? —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:29, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Comment I'm not sure that using the year of birth particularly clarifies anything. Are people searching for Randy Jackson likely to know when each was born? The second suggestion, naming the bands, seems a much better idea. How about simply Randy Jackson (The Jacksons) and Randy Jackson (Zebra)? Skinsmoke (talk) 02:05, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose, use band names. Powers T 14:55, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose use of birth years, support use of band names. Birth years are awful disambiguators. People aren't known or identified by their birth year. Propaniac (talk) 18:33, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose use of birth years, support use of band names--- did-do Moxy (talk) 00:45, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't particularly leaning towards either one of the two proposals I presented (the birth year one was the first that popped into my head, that's why I populated the RM template with it) I support moving Randy Jackson (musician) → Randy Jackson (The Jacksons) and Randy Jackson (rock musician) → Randy Jackson (Zebra). One more note: If the two pages end up being moved, I think the redirect target of Randy Jackson (musician) should be changed to Randy Jackson (disambiguation). —KuyaBriBriTalk 13:50, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Requested move 13 December 2019

The result of the move request was: Consensus to not move as proposed. No prejudice against speedy renomination or a technical request for a different proposal along the lines of Station1's argument. (closed by non-admin page mover) SITH (talk) 12:42, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
Randy Jackson (Jacksons singer) → Randy Jackson (singer) – He released his own solo singles and had his own group called Randy & the Gypsys. He also had his own record label. So basically it should be changed because he had a music career outside of the Jacksons' group. TrackerMercurial136 (talk) 06:11, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Steel1943 (talk) 15:39, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose speedy move WP:PRECISE this is ambiguous disambiguation; the base primary topic is also a singer, as is a different disambiguated topic. There is no way this person can just be called "(singer)" -- 67.70.33.184 (talk) 11:11, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Comment. WP:PDAB may apply if this subject is the primary topic for the disambiguator "(singer)". (Also, ping nominator TrackerMercurial136 so they know the move request is here now.) Steel1943 (talk) 15:39, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose and speedy close Duh, Randy Jackson is also a singer, and is also the clear primary topic.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:44, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose and speedy close after review. If the "(singer)" disambiguator is meant to refer to anything, it would most likely be the subject currently at Randy Jackson. Steel1943 (talk) 16:59, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Move back to Randy Jackson (The Jacksons) per previous RM, to revert recent undiscussed move. Was he primarily a singer or mostly/also a musician and songwriter? In any case "The Jacksons" is more recognizable. Oppose Randy Jackson (singer) for reasons above, but there's rarely a need for a speedy close. Station1 (talk) 00:58, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
- (For me, the "speedy close" was more like a "withdraw-ish" statement, considering that I was the one that posted this move request for discussion.) Steel1943 (talk) 02:17, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
