Bad Title

[edit]

Egyptologists do not transliterate this word Xeper. The transliteration of this word is spelled with a symbol which does not exist on any common computer font. It looks somthing like an h with a half a circle with the ends pointing up underneath it. Because of the lack of this symbol, x is often used to replace it, however in formal transiteration there would be no vowels and the word would be transcribed, xpr. If the artical were to be named this, there would also need to be a note that the X is capitolized by technical restrictions, since Xpr would be an entierly different word.

Furthermore, no other article uses the egyptian computer transcription system. Note that Ankh is not AnH, which it would be in keyboard transcription. Thutmosis, whose prenomen actually contains xpr in it, is written Menkheperre Thutmose III, not mnxprrA Dhwtymss.

Lastly, xpr would be pronounced Kheper, not Kheffer. Amarna tablet data would indicate that xpr may have actually been pronounced akhpir, if anything.

This article should have its name changed to Kheper. Thanatosimii 01:30, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the article should have its name changed to the dominant spelling, with xeper noted as a variant in its body. GeorgeLouis 14:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
