Doppler's decision to immigrate to United States
[edit]I'm adding a sentence to the biography paragraph that describes how Doppler was going to immigrate to the US before being offered a position in Prague, which changed his mind. Ssegtf (talk) 17:53, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
Doppler's Scientific Beliefs
[edit]I'm adding a sentence to the biography section about how Doppler believed that if a star went 136,000 km/s, it would vanish from sight. What other scientific beliefs did Doppler hold?Patkeo6 (talk) 17:19, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
Untitled
[edit]Does there have to be a mention in the very beginning that he is homosexual? Not even Oscar Wilde has his sexual orientation mentioned along with his titles. A reference to his homosexuality should be placed in the Life section or after a few lines. (by the way, there should probably be a citation for where you found he was gay because it seems not to be widely noted.) --WongFeiHung 21:24, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Do you think this fact is really important for his biography and works in physics/mathematics? Frankly speaking, I doubt. :) --Ilya O. Orlov 02:40, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Spurious spelling "Döppler"
[edit]"Doppler" sometimes gets hypercorrected into spurious "Döppler". For example, a 1931 letter to Physical Review, reporting the spectroscopic discovery of deuterium, mentions spurious "Döppler broadening". Sadly, spurious "Döppler" appears even in titles of papers and articles, ranging at least from 1906 through 2012.
"Döppler" is obviously incorrect. Not one statue or plaque of Christian Doppler spells it that way. No one is named "Döppler", on English Wikipedia or German Wikipedia.
(No action needed – just don't pick up spurious "Döppler".)
(Redirect-from-misspelling articles seem unnecessary, because a Wikipedia search for "Döppler"-anything goes directly to the correct "Doppler"-anything article, because Wikipedia search strips casing and diacritics.)
(Unfortunately, there are some correct uses of "Döppler". An alternative rock trio from north London has named itself "Döppler", a made-up name that adds a non-historical "metal umlaut".) -A876 (talk) 19:45, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Adding more to Article
[edit]I'm going to be adding more to the articles main space, including information about Doppler's childhood and the first experiment of his principle.Patkeo6 (talk) 17:07, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Details on Doppler's early education and family
[edit]I'm going to add some details on Doppler's education before he entered into his assistantship in Vienna, and some info on his family. I will also add some detail on his assistantship in Vienna.ThanksSsegtf (talk) 18:46, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Organizing the Article into sections
[edit]The Doppler page is not divided into sections. With the amount of info the page has, I think that organizing it with section headings could be helpful. I'm going to take a stab at sectioning it. If anyone has suggestions on how to organize the page, please comment. All help is appreciated here. The first headings I'm going to add are early life and scientific career. ThanksSsegtf (talk) 16:17, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
Broken template
[edit]For some reason ({{IPA-de|ˈdɔplɐ|lang}}) doesn't seem to work. I removed it for the moment. - Tournesol (talk) 10:07, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
