Hello Heather, I read the story of your deconversion. I wrote the following at apostasy, " Anecdotal evidence suggests that losing faith can be a psychologically difficult experience."
Are you aware of any empirical evidence? See my story if you are interested. [1] Thanks in advance. Andries 18:49, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Andries, I'm not sure what would count as empirical evidence. I know a lot of other ex-Christians and, depending on the level of their previous involvement, they all have different reactions to their choice to leave. Surely there are typical responses, as shown in the work of Dr. Marlene Winell, who specializes in helping people recover from leaving fundamentalist religions and cults.

- What I mean with empirical evidence is a statistical significant correlation between level of involvement and psychological (e.g. depression or mourning) and social problems (e.g. withdrawal) after leaving a religious group. I am aware though that a correlation doesn't mean a causal relation: there could be other explanations. But even if this empirical evidence is not available then something that gives more than just the meagre anecdotal evidence that you and I and a few others can supply would be great. The book by Dr. Marlene Winell would be a good start. Can you use it without breaking copyright for the apostasy article? Thanks Andries 00:14, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Wikimedia Canada
[edit]Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 02:28, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
