Talk:Scots-Quebecers

I believe this article should be moved Scotch Quebecers, following the same logic as Irish Quebecers and Anglo Quebecers.

Also, we should agree on whether or not we put an hyphen between the two words. I was under the impression that you were supposed to put one when it was an adjective, but I am not longer certain of this.

In addition, the word Scotch can be a touchy subject among residents of Scotland and their descendants. There are many who vehemently insist on Scottish or Scots. -- Indefatigable 03:02, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

There should be something about the peculiar branch of protestantism the Scots brought to Quebec, and of the more or less religious ethical system that came with it, and how it lived along the peculiar Jansenist branch of roman catholicism which existed then in Quebec. --AlainV 03:52, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The Scotland Portal is now up and running. It is a project in the early stages of development, but I think it could be a very useful resource indeed, perhaps more for general readers (the vast majority I presume), rather than committed editors, who may be more attracted by the great possibilities of the notice board format: Wikipedia:Scottish Wikipedians' notice board.

Give it a Watch, and lend a hand if you can. It is (hopefully) fairly low-maintenance, but if we run with the "News" section, that will take dedication: time which I cannot commit to presently myself. Most other boxes need replacment/update only weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, plus the occasional refreshment of the Scotland-related categories. Anyway, I assume this is how the other Portals are run, so we can follow their lead.

Please add the following code - {{portal|Scotland}} - to your own User page, and you will have the link to the portal right there for easy access. I will investigate how other portals use shortcuts too.

Assistance from Wikipedians in the rest of the world would be greatly appreciated!--Mais oui! 09:19, 25 October 2005 (UTC) Bold text[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

I have assessed this as Start Class, as its detail is completely unreferenced, and of low importance, as it is a highly specific topic within Canada. Cheers, CP 03:44, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting major edit

[edit]

I believe the edit of September 30, 2009 completely hijacked this page. It's probably the first page I've even seen on wikipedia that uses the pronoun "I". I'm going to be bold and revert to the previous edit, which I think is certainly more wikipedia-esque. The change was so significant and lengthy, I think it must have been a cut & paste, although I don't know that. I hope I don't get called for a party foul! NeilCoughlin (talk) 03:37, 9 January 2010 (UTC) Actually I guess too many edits have happened that it now requires a manual edit instead of an undo. I shall contact others for help.
