Premiere?

[edit]

moving here:

Skywalker Sound was considered the premiere motion picture sound editorial facility in the United States, if not the world.

When was that so? When has it changed? --Eloquence 05:39 25 May 2003 (UTC)

It hasn't actually changed, Skywalker Sound is still one of the best postproduction facilities. One of it's big competitors is Peter Jacksons's Park Road Post, which from time to time hosts Skywalker sound designers (For example, in the last two Lord of The Rings movies, as well as King Kong).
Other than that, we could also consider the multiple facilities of Todd AO. Still, one of the biggest thing Skywalker offers is their sound designer talent. Not to mention their prevalent cutting edge technology.

Ben Burtt

[edit]

Are we sure Ben Burtt got a special achievement award because the sound editing Oscar was not established? The pages for Academy Award for Sound Editing gives people receiving the award as early as 1963. Often people get the Special Achievement Awards when there isn't a true "winner". The second half of this article reads like a press release by George Lucas himself. Extraordinary Machine 22:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I'll try to improve the whole article as soon as I have some time. It's one of my favorite topics. Valkian, 20 March 2007
