Meaning of name
[edit]"The name comes from the Maori words "manga", stream; "te", the; and "paru", muddy or deep", acc to AW Reed. I find this highly doubtful. It does not appear grammatical. AW Reed did not speak Maori and unless he cited a Maori source I suspect he just chopped the word into bits and looked up a dictionary. "Manga" is highly likely to mean stream in this name, but I think the rest is incorrect guesswork by Reed. Nurg (talk) 09:47, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
