Largest drydock
[edit]Under Modern Times, there is a claim that a Newport News drydock is the largest in the Western Hemisphere. Later, there is a claim that a Portland drydock is the largest in North America. The two are both in the Western Hemisphere and North America, so one or the other is incorrect.

- They're both correct, just poorly expressed.
- The Newport News dock is a graving dock. Vigor is a floating dry dock. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:28, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Unresolved point of interest
[edit]I'm aware of WP:NOTFAQ but an ex-navy friend asked me a question which I thought might be answered by this article, and it wasn't.
When they dry-dock a ship, the bottom that is resting on the keel blocks can’t be painted. How do they paint the entire bottom? What does Wikipedia say?
If anyone can answer this, I'll pass it on. If there's a citeable source for the information, perhaps it ought to be added to the article. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 06:32, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
